Long months of treatment can take a significant financial toll on families, and finding funds for a much needed holiday can be very difficult.
Child Cancer Foundation has two holiday homes available to our children with cancer and their families. We have homes in Taupo and Arrowtown. All our houses can be booked rent free for one week. The homes are well-resourced and provide families with the opportunity to spend time together in a relaxing setting.
Families have the opportunity to spend time together in a relaxing setting away from normal stresses of treatment. Other families use the facilities to celebrate milestones or honour their deceased child.
Opened in June, 2012, the Arrowtown home is a three bedroom, two bathroom, two storey, well insulated and sunny house. The house is walking distance from the main Arrowtown shopping/entertainment area, close to public transport and opposite the Millbrook golf course.
The house is owned by Child Cancer Foundation Otago/Southland Accommodation Trust (OSAT), which was set up in the 1980s to provide accommodation for Otago and Southland children with cancer and their families.
Thank you to Otago/Southland Accommodation Trust members, our Child Cancer Foundation branches, Professionals Real Estate Group and the local suppliers whose contributions and support have helped make this service possible.
Taupo Sunshine Lodge Holiday Home
The Sunshine Lodge holiday home in Taupo is a Lockwood property, offering three-bedrooms, and 1 bathroom. Professionals Real Estate Group fund and help maintain the Taupo home.
