Childhood cancer is a devastating disease, killing more children each year than any other. It does not discriminate on the basis of geography, race or religion. It is severely debilitating emotionally and financially to every family it touches. A few decades ago, when there were no effective treatments for childhood cancer, all children died within a few months of diagnosis. However, research during the past four decades has made tremendous progress in treating and even curing the disease, so that today nearly 80% of young New Zealanders diagnosed and treated for cancer will be alive five years from now. Our goal is to give the others a genuine chance, and ultimately to eradicate childhood cancer as the killer it is.

The Child Cancer Foundation is passionately dedicated to helping children, young people and their families who are living with cancer to make it through their journey in the most positive way possible.

Your support gives the Child Cancer Foundation in New Zealand the ability to provide vital services to families, education and support programs to help improve awareness and to assist those coping with the disease. In addition, we continue searching for a cause and cure for childhood cancer.

Whatever way you decide to help, please be assured that your donation is helping the children and families affected by childhood cancer.

Our mission is to give children with cancer and their families the up-to-date information, practical advice and support they need to reduce the fear and uncertainty of cancer.

How the Child Cancer Foundation is funded.

The Child Cancer Foundation relies on the generosity of people like you for its funding: business leaders, community groups and caring citizens who are committed to changing the impact that childhood cancer has on children and those who love and care for them. There is so much that can be done in the area of childhood cancer and there is great potential for success.

The Foundation does not receive any Government funding, nor funding from other cancer support agencies. Therefore, a proactive fundraising programme is vital so the Foundation can continue providing essential services and support to children with cancer, their families and the health professionals who work with them.
