The Anger Toolbox
A handbook of tools for parents and caregivers to help children and young people through angry times.
This colourful book written by Tricia Irving and John Taylor Smith and published by ‘Skylight’ gives parents and carers lots of practical ideas to help them manage and support children and teenagers through angry times. It discusses why people get angry, what happens when they do and suggests ways to effectively manage this anger.
The book features a range of tools that many parents and carers have found useful along with information about where in your own local community to find extra support. There is additional information about supporting angry young people through difficult times of change, loss and grief.
Co-authors Tricia Irving and John Taylor-Smith provide very down to earth, practical advice in this book for dealing with anger - whatever its underlying reason. Tricia Irving has a background in secondary teaching and youth affairs and works for Skylight, an agency helping children and teenagers through times of change, loss and grief. John Taylor Smith is principal of Wellington’s Miramar Central School and completed his Masters Thesis in behavioural management. A principal for the last 18 years John has a special interest in effective discipline approaches in schools and in issues that affect boys.
