Seeking more super volunteers
The Child Cancer Foundation needs more than 1000 committed and generous New Zealanders to join forces during its annual Appeal Week (10 – 16 March.)
To register yourself as a volunteer, simply call 0800 4CHILD (0800 424 453) or visit your local branch of the Child Cancer Foundation.
Funds raised in 2007 were used to introduce the Beads of Courage Programme in paediatric oncology wards throughout the country. Each small and colourful bead signified a different treatment of every child’s courageous battle with cancer, whether that be braving another injection or completing a chemotherapy session.
This year, volunteers will be asked to sell Support Beads for a donation of $4 or more during Appeal Week. Each bead goes some way to helping the Foundation provide the Beads of Courage Programme in 2008.
Volunteers are needed nationwide; from small towns to major cities. Businesses and schools are also encouraged to hit the streets during their lunch hour or to collect in their offices. The Foundation is encouraging companies to donate an hour out of their day for staff to collect and show their support for children and families affected by cancer in their communities.
