Hyundai Wheels of Courage, the road trip that will navigate the nation collecting handprints of kids with cancer, has begun.
The Hyundai initiative launched on Wednesday 7th November will visit up to 23 destinations throughout the country over the next four months. Over 600 children who are currently supported by the Child Cancer Foundation will be encouraged to leave their colourful handprints on the vehicle.
Starting in Auckland, five year old Sam Turnwald was the first child to make her mark on the car, followed by 14 other children currently being treated at Starship children’s hospital.
The Hyundai Wheels of Courage route is still being finalised but is due to be announced next week. In March 2008 the car will be auctioned, with 100% of the funds raised used to further the Foundation’s emotional and practical support services for children and families affected by childhood cancer.
