Stars dance for the kids
Wellington Hospital’s paediatric ward was a buzz of excitement as Lorraine Downes and dancing partner Aaron Gilmore danced with children, parents and medical staff.

Lorraine and Aaron are such lovely people, so kind and thoughtful and they made a real effort to make everyone feel special. They both had such a wonderful way with the children.
The Child Cancer Foundation is doing such a wonderful job in supporting families whose children are currently undergoing treatment, those who have finished treatment, and bereaved families such as ours. An event such as last week's gives everyone such a lift and is a great opportunity to interact with other families - and we also caught up with some of our favourite nurses and medical staff at the hospital. It was such a happy occasion.
It was such a treat to watch the dancing up close and personal! We have tried dancing some of the steps at home.
We were delighted to watch Lorraine and Aaron dance so gracefully on the show on Sunday night and to deservedly advance through to the next round. We wish them well for the competition - they are both beautiful people in every sense of the word.
We thought it was great and Kate absolutely loved Lorraine and Aaron and has not stopped talking about them. She was unable to watch last night as it is too late, but she insisted I fill her in on all the details regarding their dance, music, costumes etc.
It was great for Lorraine and Aaron to take time out and meet with us. They were very approachable, and had empathy with the Child Cancer Foundation. Grace loved dancing with Aaron and she was able to give a detailed description of Lorraine's dress and accessories to her teachers the next day.
We loved being part of the afternoon and will continue texting our votes for Lorraine and Aaron. Both children now get up at 8.30pm to watch the show.
