Lexi's APPEAL TOUCHES THE HEART

The Professionals National Office staff in their Tutus The 2005 Annual Appeal Week ended on April 17th but the donations are still rolling in. Further to TV, radio and print advertising, Lexi Primrose's dance has inspired thousands of people nationwide to dig deep and donate generously, in a bid to raise $1 million.
Fundraising activities during the Appeal included schoolchildren holding pink mufti days, a film premiere in Otago, and a sponsored head shave in Morrinsville (organised by Professionals Real Estate), which has so far raised a staggering $25,000! Many thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who took time out to help, and who donned their Tutus to line the streets across the country to collect for the Appeal.
Lexi's dance has touched the hearts of many New Zealanders, who have written in to tell us of how they were moved by the TV Ad. The Appeal has also received a lot of media interest, with TV, print and radio stations nationwide getting in on a piece of the action. On the radio, Lexi and her mum Nicky were interviewed by The Edge FM, twins Claudia and Courtney Sammut were interviewed by Solid Gold FM, and the effervescent Rachel Fatialofa was interviewed by Flava FM. Mother - Melissa Taylor - had a piece on TV 3’s Campbell live with her daughter Liberty, while Christchurch’s Ben Grice appeared on Breakfast television. During the week Sports Café gave the Child Cancer Foundation a mention and Mark Ellis joined the Tutu-brigade.
Thanks very much to everyone who has taken time out to raise money, support Lexi and donate time to the Appeal. The monies are still being counted, and there will be announcement in a few weeks with the final total – fingers crossed we’ve hit target!!.
