A Close Shave sets a world record in Christchurch

Andrew Mehrtens about to shave the head of Dean Harrison of The Radio Network, with Frank Endicott on the left and a policeman on right.A new world record was set for head shaves in Christchurch on 2nd December. 116 heads were shaved, including nine Westpac Branch managers, Frank Endicott and Gary Endicott, and several policemen. Several women, including a Westpac manager braved the clippers of the hairdressers, assisted by Andrew Mehrtens and Sam Broomhall.

A Close Shave was held in The Square in Christchurch on 2nd December to raise funds for the Child Cancer Foundation and especially to bring some Christmas cheer to children getting treatment for cancer at Christchurch Hospital over the holiday period. More than $60,000 was raised. Special thanks to Dean Harrison and the team at The Radio Network for organizing the event, and support by Westpac and Canterbury Rugby.
