The magic of two iconic New Zealanders and a pinch of fairy dust combined today at a special tea party launch in support of children affected by cancer.

Fashion designer Trelise Cooper and motor sport legend Greg Murphy have each designed three children’s garments to be sold through JK Kids Gear Stores around New Zealand to raise money for the Child Cancer Foundation.

Six young children who have been affected by childhood cancer revealed the “Fairy Dust” range designed by Trelise and the racing car inspired t-shirts by Greg Murphy in a mini fashion parade at the event.

Drawing on her signature feminine designs, Trelise’s “Fairy Dust” outfits capture the frills, flight and fancy associated with fairies for young girls. The designer loved the opportunity to design for little girls all over the country as well as being able to give something to the important charity.

“The range includes a party dress and two gorgeous little skirt and top outfits that are made for frolicking, flying and make believe. I loved the opportunity to design for the Child Cancer Foundation, the work they do is crucial and it is so gratifying to be able to use my designs to help children affected by cancer”, says Trelise.

Fashion design for V8 Supercar legend Greg Murphy is a far more novel experience, though he too is more than willing to donate his time and creativity to the Foundation.

“The decision to become involved in an initiative like this was easy, the work that Child Cancer Foundation does with children and their families affected by cancer is invaluable. As a father it’s great to be able to help in any way possible, it’s essential,” says Murphy.

The limited edition garments are on sale now in JK stores throughout the country as well as through their catalogue or online store at www.jk.co.nz

The boys t-shirts, for those aged one to 12, will be sold for $19.95 each with $10 from each shirt sold being donated to the Child Cancer Foundation. The “Fairy Dust” range of outfits are priced from $22.95- $44.95 with at least $10 from each purchase being donated to the Foundation.

The Child Cancer Foundation is delighted to have these two celebrities involved and are excited about their partnership with JK.

“We are extremely grateful to both Trelise and Greg for their fantastic designs but without JK Kids gear we would not be able to put the whole initiative into practice. Their nationwide presence and large customer base will help us to sell the garments and raise valuable funds for the Child Cancer Foundation,” says Olivia Blaylock, Marketing Manager Child Cancer Foundation.

This fundraising initiative also launches the key sponsorship between JK and the Child Cancer Foundation. This is one of many initiatives JK will put in place over the next year to fundraise and support the foundation.

About the Child Cancer Foundation:

The Child Cancer Foundation is a not-for profit charity that provides practical and emotional support to children with cancer, their families, and the health professionals who treat them. They have 23 branches throughout the country and receive no government funding, or funding from other cancer support agencies. They are instrumental in providing support for health professionals and contributing financially to research initiatives but also focus on providing support and information to families upon diagnosis and throughout their journey with cancer. Their support comes in many forms whether it be financial assistance in the form of meals, transportation, accommodation, support groups, education scholarships or access to holiday homes.
