A very big Thank You to Sponsors
Many individuals, volunteers and organisations help the Child Cancer Foundation and give generous support throughout the year. We thank you all. Your generosity is appreciated, especially as the Foundation does not receive any government funding and is totally dependent on your goodwill.
Here are some to whom we give an extra special thank you:
Hyundai Motors NZ Ltd
Hyundai Motors NZ Ltd, 100% locally owned and operated, is proud
to be the platinum sponsor of the Child Cancer Foundation and to
support the Foundation’s key initiatives, the ‘Hyundai Beads of
Courage’ Appeal and ‘Hyundai Wheels of Courage’.
The Beads of Courage Appeal in March 2008 is supported by Hyundai
and its nationwide dealer network. Beads of Courage is a special
programme designed to honour each brave step that a child takes on
their childhood cancer journey. This year, ‘Support Beads’ are being
sold to the general public through Hyundai dealerships during Appeal
Week.
Hyundai Wheels of Courage is a fundraising and awareness programme
that launched in November 2007. A Hyundai Santa Fe, kindly donated
by Hyundai, is travelling round 23 New Zealand destinations
collecting handprints of children who are supported by the
Foundation. The Hyundai Santa Fe, covered with colourful handprints,
will eventually be auctioned off during Appeal Week with 100% of all
proceeds going towards supporting kids with cancer and their
families.
Hyundai is the sixth largest automaker in 2006, selling in 193
countries and employing 50,000 people. Hyundai New Zealand has
experienced significant growth over the past four years and sits 6th
in 2007 for the greatest number of passenger vehicles sold. Hyundai
New Zealand has numerous new locations among its 23 dealerships.
Hyundai’s sponsorship of the Child Cancer Foundation is a further
extension of its widespread and long term support for the community
in New Zealand.

The Professionals Real Estate Group
The Professionals Real Estate Group has been a key sponsor of the Child Cancer Foundation for more than 12 years and during this time has contributed over $3.5 million and countless volunteer hours.
The Professionals has made a significant difference in the lives of many children with cancer and their families through the provision of the Sunshine Lodge holiday homes in Taupo and Queenstown. These fully-furnished and equipped homes come as welcome respite to the families who are dealing with the rigmarole of caring for a child with cancer. In recent times, the occupancy rate of the Taupo Sunshine Lodge has increased to 98 per cent and the Queenstown Lodge to 70 per cent.
Each year, the entire Professionals team gets out and about on the streets to collect money for the Annual Appeal. In many areas around the country, the local offices initiate specific appeal week activities to get the staff and community involved the campaign.
The Professionals have also assisted the Foundation with the purchase of properties in Auckland and Wellington for the Family Places. These are located near the hospitals, providing a safe haven for families and a break away from the hospital atmosphere. The Family Places enable families to meet others facing the same challenges and gather information on issues of childhood cancer. It also gives the children with cancer and their siblings an environment to relax and play in. Recent support has gone towards purchasing a building in Grafton Road, Auckland which operates as a national centre, housing the Child Cancer Foundation and the associated charity Canteen.
South Canterbury Finance

and is now one of New Zealand’s largest privately owned finance

in the business, plant & equipment, property, rural and consumer
sectors.
With their network of nationwide subsidiaries the Child Cancer
Foundation is an excellent fit for South Canterbury Finance group as
it allows all staff to become involved at a regional level.

THE TEXTILE RECYCLING CENTRE
The Textile Recycling Centre consistently contributes a valued sponsorship to the Foundation. Each year proceeds from the pink clothing bags, blue clothing bins and SaveMart Recycled Clothing Stores provide valuable support for the ongoing services and overheads of the Foundation, enabling more money to go directly to our Family Support services.
THE LION FOUNDATION
The Lion Foundation has continued to support the salaries of our Family Support workers throughout the country, bringing direct emotional and practical support to the children and their families.
DDB NEW ZEALAND LTD
DDB New Zealand Ltd after winning most of the top advertising awards in 2004, chose to help the Foundation with its image and branding, and to create a new advertising campaign for our annual appeal. Lexi’s Appeal for kids living with cancer ran in April 2005 to assist the Foundation in its major fundraising event of the year.
In the recent Marketing Awards the Lexi campaign was the winner of the Not-for-Profit Marketing Award.
To quote NZ Marketing Magazine "In 2005 the Foundation flew in the face of convention and sold a message of positivity and hope".
The judges said the campaign was innovative and turned logic around, and was a good marketing strategy focusing on the positives.
The Foundation is grateful to its special sponsors who make it possible for us to deliver essential services to children and young people with cancer, and their families, and support the Health Professionals caring for them.
