Regional Office & Family Drop-In Centres

The Child Cancer Foundation has regional offices and family drop in centres in each of the 4 Divisions. These are the Family Places in Auckland and Wellington

This is somewhere parents are welcome either on their own or with their children, to spend some time out from the hospital. There is always a friendly face and someone to have a chat to, while the children can play with some different toys and activities. When visiting here families also have the opportunity to collect information or resources or borrow some videos or books to keep children occupied.

Ronald McDonald Houses

The Child Cancer Foundation recognises the importance for children and young people and their families of having a home away from home during treatment.

Consequently, the Child Cancer Foundation is a major partner and has provided funding for Ronald McDonald Houses in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch so that the families we support can benefit from these facilities.

Sunshine Lodge Holiday homes

After months of treatment children and their families are often in need of a break away from hospitals with opportunity for relaxation and good family times. However, for many families the long months of treatment take a significant financial toll and they don’t have the funds to afford a holiday.

The Child Cancer Foundation has 2 Sunshine Lodge holiday homes in popular resort towns: one in Taupo and the other in Queenstown, where families have a week away for much needed time out. These homes are well resourced and provide families with the opportunity for time together in a relaxing setting.

The Child Cancer Foundation has been able to provide families with this opportunity through the generosity of the Professionals Real Estate Group who have funded and maintained the homes. The Foundation enjoys and is grateful for the ongoing partnership with the Professionals in working together to meet the needs of children with cancer and their families.
