Steve Price

Steve Price is a legend of league on both sides of the Tasman and is recognised as one of the best role models and leaders in sport today. He has been described as ‘the most-loved Australian in New Zealand sporting history.’

Steve’s league career spanned 17 years, playing for the Bulldogs, Maroons, the Kangaroos and finally the NZ Warriors, where he announced his retirement in the 2010 season. He was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit earlier this year.

“I got involved with the Child Cancer Foundation through a connection I had with a boy in Sydney at Westmead Childrens Hospital and when I moved to New Zealand and wanted to help out where I could,” he says.

“I saw a brochure detailing the “Shave Your Lid for a Brave Kid” campaign and decided to help out; I have now shaved my head five times. I have also donated money to the Foundation in relation to the sales of bucket hats for my 300th NRL game as well as from the auction at my Tribute Dinner.

“I am truly inspired by the young people I get to meet and the amount of strength, attitude and drive they have during these tough times.  The parents and families are also amazing. I am very grateful that I am able to help make their tough times a little easier.”
