Maia's Fielday appearance thanks to Hansen
17 Jun 2011
Hamilton’s Paige got to add her touch to the Child Cancer Foundation’s colourful equine ambassador Maia at Fieldays yesterday, thanks to supporters Hansen.
Maia is covered in Beads painted by Child Cancer Foundation children, who have replicated the Beads of Courage they receive during treatment to recognise and reward their bravery.
Maia was at Hansen’s Fieldays site as part of the company’s generous support of the Child Cancer Foundation. 100% of retail profits from all sales at Fieldays this week will be donated to the Foundation.
Paige, (10) who has now completed her cancer treatment, enjoyed adding her artwork alongside that of friends she has met during her cancer journey.
After painting Maia, Paige also loved drawing out the names of each of the eight senior managers from Hansen, who added additional fundraising power by shaving their heads. Several thousand dollars was raised through sponsorship.
Hansen Director Sales and Marketing Steve Sharpe said Hansen was very proud to be a New Zealand company supporting a fantastic cause. Hansen design, manufacture and distribute Pipe Fittings and Valves of the highest quality around the world.
The Child Cancer Foundation receives no government support and so relies on the generosity of New Zealanders to achieve its vision that every child and family walking the child cancer journey will never feel alone.
