In July we held our 13th successful Champions Luncheon in Wellington and introduced our first Auckland Champions Luncheon which was attended by 200 people and is now firmly established for next year.
In Auckland five of our children, Kavahn, Matthew, Ezra, Ethan and Korel did a great job interviewing the celebrities including Tana Umaga, Danyon Loader, Willie Lose, and Awen Guttenbeil. The children featured on Bernadine Oliver-Kerby’s Sunday afternoon Skoda Game On programme on TV One. Guests also enjoyed the couch chat session with Frank Bunce, Tana Umaga, Ian Kirkpatrick, Sir Colin Meads, Andy Hayden and Waka Nathan.
Wellington was once again a sell out. This year it was held at the Duxton Hotel and raised $140,000 on the day. Guests and former Springboks captain Bobby Skinstad enjoyed the professional job Westside Studios did of theming the Duxton Ballroom, transporting guests into an African safari complete with faux wild animals. Once again Frank Bunce, Ian Kirkpatrick and Andy Hayden were part of a panel and traded war stories with guest of honour Bobby Skinstad, the former South African captain.
